Vevor sewer auger, need some help

Ok, I have an older house, trees in the yard. Couple times a year my sewer line gets backed up, I'm certain it's roots somewhere.
I have a balloon jet that will clean out the issue very temporarily
I'm pretty sure what happens is the toilet paper gets built up on the roots, causes a backup. The jet will blow the paper through and the water will go down.
Long ago I got Roto rooter to come out with an auger, that cleaned it out a lot longer (maybe a year or more). A couple years I went and rented one from Home Depot, same result.
I don't want to pay to have the line replaced. Cost is way too much from what I can tell, AI telling me probably 5 figures.
So I picked up a Vevor auger, to have at hand (I figure a few uses and it pays for itself). It did work, but apparently I was a dumbass and made a mistake. I tried advancing through a blockage instead of just letting it chew through with the rotation, and it caused the cable to twist or kink within the drum. Looks like it's overlapped or "crossed over". It won't come out beyond that point, because of the cable being snagged on itself. Due to the design of this particular auger, I can't open the drum.
Anyone have a trick to unkinking these things? It will feed about 15 ft, then we're stuck. The cable is creating a hella spring tension. Do I just force it (like hook it to a truck and pull it), or would that make it worse? It's outside the window to return, and it otherwise works (if you follow the directions lol).

Vevor is junk and the one in the pic is not a mainline machine. Need one with 5/8" or 3/4" cable and the big 3" cutter head. Best option is a high pressure jet.

I have a VEVOR sewer auger and mine works fine. Used it this last week on a clogged kitchen drain. You should be able to reverse the rotation of the drum either with the motor or by hand. That will unlink the cable.
But it sounds like you have roots in your main line. You may have purchased a model with a cable that is too thin for what you are trying to do. If that’s the case, I’m not sure what to tell you. You may need to change the cable or change the tool to do what you need to do.

It cleared the issue, I just want to be able to use it again.
I've done some research, and they say if you hit something, just let it spin awhile to cut through the blockage, and not try to push through it with the advance (which is what I did).
Im gonna try backwards spinning, see if that loosens it up

I will never say Vevor is top tier, but they do usually have the best imported designs, and most of all for a import company pretty good customer service. I had a hose reel they couldn't source a part for...so they just sent me the new model for free over year later. When I did need parts for other items when I asked if I could buy spares they just sent me replacements for free.
You can usually get Vevor under their other brand svopes cheaper, looks like they have this brand as a alternate to get around pricing rules like amazon has but everything I have bought with the svopes brand has been the vevor product.

Yeah I mean vevor is fine for diy stuff. But will never hold up for everyday use

Don't spin it backward. It takes practice to learn how to feel it. When you get resistance pull back a little and move forward slow.
