Upright freezer not getting cold enough to freeze

Frigidaire Electrolux bought in June 2004. I checked underneath, no coils to clean. I did clean some spider webs. Everything seems to be running. Blowing air out inside of freezer.
Anything else to try or after 17 years is it just time for a new one?

My son recently left ours cracked open. After catching it it stopped being cold. I had to move everything out of it. Turn it off. Let everything inside it melt out then could turn it back on.

I noticed this on ours yesterday. If it still doesn't get cold after the little cleaning I had to do, will give it a shot.

I have a upright Frigidaire freezer and the defrost timer gets stuck and has been replaced twice in 15 years. When it sticks it stays in defrost mode continuously raising the temperature in the freezer. If the timer is working properly the defrost mode should only be on for about 10-15 minutes every 6 hours (assuming yours is a 6 hour timer like in the pic)
The defrost timer looks like this and it's down by the compressor
Take a flat head screw driver and turn the gray circle thing 1/4 of a turn clockwise and see if it starts cooling again. If yes the timer is the problem and will probably get stuck in the exact same spot. Replace the timer. To buy some time you can keep using the screw driver until the part comes in. Mark where it gets stuck with a sharpie and just turn it enough to get it out of defrost mode a two or three times a day. The timer is easy to replace. 2 screws and plug in the new one.
You will have to look up the part # for the timer you need. Your model may be a 6, 8, or 12 hour timer or some other length of time.

Sounds like it is identifying as a refrigerator now.

That’s great advice by weadjust, I had this problem and using a small screwdriver to advance the timer worked and it went back into defrost when the timer got back to the defrost click position, changed timer, it was $12.00 on Amazon. A couple weeks later I changed out the air blower, on mine it’s behind a small removable section in the mid back panel inside the freezer, it was cheap on Amazon too, the old blower had started cutting on and off and was not circulating the cold air, so one section would try to freeze but the rest of the shelves would just get cold but not freeze, the new blower solved this problem.

Check behind the freezer for the coils. They'll be at the bottom behind a cardboard panel. It'll probably look like a carpet of dust and hair and whatever. Clean the fan blades and everything else. Leave the door open for a day with a fan blowing in it. You can remove the panel at the bottom on the inside to expose the guts and defroster, which are probably a block of ice.
Do these simple and free things first before throwing parts at it or trashing it.

It sounds to me like you've got an upright refrigerator.
