What tree farm is good to deal with for large Live Oaks installed? Looking around 200-300 gallon or similar. 5.5 cal.

Bob's in Church Point. I bought some oaks from him back in '16. Good guy. Not sure if he's still in business but here's the website. Bob's Tree Preservation

X2. They’re good people. Bob’s is good too but they really took advantage of us post storm several years ago.

No, in LaPlace. Spoke with Wilkinson, Gerald’s, and Ducote. Wilkinson was 2x more than the others.

I’ve dealt with both. Ducote does a good job, I have live oak, swamp maple and eagleston holly from him 100gal -300 oak. They’re all doing very well, pretty trees.

I got another live oak from Wilkinson in Feb 2021, they took a lot of storm damage that previous year. They did tell me their prices were going up I think I paid 1300 for a 200 gal 20ft oak. Planted 3 weeks before ice storm in 21, then ida came and knocked it over in august (it was staked but not well enough for 160mph) stood it back up and put in 3ft stakes. She’s finally taking back off! That trees been through hell, but making progress. Pruned it up this past weekend.

I will say, if I had to do it again I would likely cap out at 100 gallon only because research shows planting smaller trees will surpass growth of planting larger trees in the same time frame based on the larger tree having a harder time establishing good roots. My 2¢ !

I grow live oaks but not that big. I usually send customers to Florida for big trees especially if they need a load. They are a lot cheaper. Twin lake nursery in canton Texas is also a good spot
