Top dressing mix for St. Aug

Long/Short......sodded front yard with St. Aug 2 years ago in May. The first 12 months were great....no issues whatsoever. Last August I noticed i had chinch bugs (thought it was drought at first) and by the time I figured out what was happening and sprayed, i had lost approximately 30% of my yard. As a result i have a large section that I'll likely have to re-sod this spring but also have some "holes" in certain areas that I'd like to top dress/fill. Was considering black cow/sand mixture, but was looking for suggestions and/or mixture quantities.
TIA

Good Mason sand. Make sure it’s clean. Sometimes you call these yards and they don’t care and if they know it’s for your yard they’ll sell you shite. I get mine from a brickyard in the super sack. Also most of those bags of playsand are clean.

great....i'm guessing a 50/50 mix or slightly higher on the sand....google says 70/30 but that seems like alot.
Just wanted to see if anyone might have practical experience and could provide some clarification

What does this run (delivered) and how much coverage comes in a super sack?

The only mix I would consider would be 59 %mason sand and finely sifted compost, I have yet to find anyone locally in BR that sift compost

It depends on the reason for adding a soil amendment. If it is to level or fill small holes then you want mason sand. It is not organic and will not break down. Compost being organic will break down and you will left with the same issues as before. If the goal is to add microbes and nutrients to the lawn then you can do a compost/sand mix.
