Tell me if I’m an idiot

I have a few holes in my yard. I was thinking to mix 1 part sand and 1 part soil in a bucket to fill all of my holes in the yard.
Is that a dumb idea? If so, please tell me what I should do.

It’s a good idea just maybe use a wheel barrow instead of bucket. A bucket won’t hold much

The bucket idea is dumb, mixing the soils isn't. Just throw it down. Little sand, a little soil, rake it in. It will mix while raking.
