to the torsion bar. Makes sense to me. Just wondering who has made the change and if you like the performance. Have a 16' door and it is starting to bend down a bit on the top of the door when it makes the transition from vertical to horizontal (track curve). That is where the door sees the most strain when being pulled up.

Considering a Chamberlain side mount. Feedback on your experience would be great.

I hope it's positive - we're building our final/retirement house and we're having Liftmaster 9500Ws installed.

Interesting. Assume builder recommended?

I have had one for about 5 years. No Issues and is much quieter, not that that really matters. I would buy it again.

It would be my choice. Basically every commercial-grade roll-up door uses a similar system, makes much better sense than a small motor dragging a chain, belt, or turning a screw from 10 feet away. More room for garage lighting too.

Have 3 of the 9500W models for the last 4+ years. Rock solid and quiet along with it being visually better to when the doors are closed. I silicon spray all my moving parts twice a year. The motion lights are a plus when I stumble in at any time from my normal entry door into my garage.

I replaced my working overhead chamberlain MYQ for a Jack mount Chamberlain. Works the same with the app. Is quieter, smoother up and down travel. Why did I do this? I am in the process of renovating my garage and making it a more functional space for my tools and hobbies, cigar smoking, and that overhead unit bothered me because it is an eyesore. I am considering a "lift kit" for the door tracks, essential could raise the door up another 18" but don't feel I would DIY that portion of the reno.

Very pleased with the jack mount opener and it and is DIY for sure. You'll need a power source within the cord length, so I tapped off the plug that was used for the overhead and ran a new outlet above the jack mount location.

No, I watched a lot of youtube videos and read about them on several forums. When we asked our builder about them, he said he had similar ones at his house. I was tired of the old chain type and I wanted to try these as they "seemed" better. At least they look better.

Same. Much quieter and smoother than the overhead unit the builders put in.

Swapped mine out to swing the driver in the garage.

Every house from now on will get the side mounts installed.
