Rheem tankless hot water heater was working fine and all of a sudden can’t get hot water in the house. I cleaned the filter and descaled it for an hour. Still no hot water. I can open the pressure relief valve and it works fine. Any thoughts on why I can’t get it to my fixtures? Thanks

No they are open. After opening the relief valve water will get hot inside the house but once you turn off the faucet and turn it back on later, still won’t get hot.

Have you recently swapped any of your faucets?

Try running two of them at the same time to see if you get a constant temp.

No breakers are all good. Opening the relegation valve kicks it on.

No error codes, that’s what’s puzzling about it.

Okay tried that earlier, still nothing. Opened all hot water faucets in the house at same time and nothing.

MIxing valve? Assuming the unit has a mixing valve and the relief valve is upstream of the mixing valve that may create a situation where opening the relief valve causes a situation that allows the mixing valve to operate. I'm grasping at straws, really but that may be worth a try.

I will have to check on that. Not sure if it has one or not.

Had the same issue with mine.
Theres a fuse inside the heater that is most likely blown. Take the cover off and there's another cover over the control panel, take that cover off and you'll see the fuse in there. Check it out. Ive replaced mine several times.

Were you able to get hot water by opening the relief valve? I can open the relief valve and get all the hot water I want. Noticed today that if I opened the sink faucet and the shower faucet separately I would not get hot water. But if I opened them both at the same time I would get hot water to both. Could I have pluggage in the plumbing lines some where? Like I said this just started happening.

Earlier you said you opened all faucets in the house and no hot water...is that changed now?

Tankless water heaters require a minimum flow to kick on, so if there's hot water when multiple faucets are open but not if there's one, that's where I'd focus.

Yes It varies from time to time but the last few days it has gotten worse. I did get a new water well drilled and I am about to get off of a shared well with my uncle. I’m going to be hooking it up to my house this weekend. I have noticed the water pressure has been going down lately also. Hopefully that will solve the problem.

I misunderstood with my last comment. I thought u were getting water just wasn't hot.

Sounds like you may have a pluggage. Is your house pex?

How old is the unit? I had a Rheem put in in January of this year. On 3 occasions I lost hot water. The installer said it was a batch of bad valves. I had them replace it with a Rinnai in April and so far no issues.
