Sunjoe battery reel mower

Decided to pick one up. Was on sale for ~$179. My wife asked why I needed a 3rd lawn mower
Any one else have one?
I was using a manual reel, but was getting very bad washboarding as it was very thick.
I just scalped my yard last week for a reset. So we'll see how this thing works out and good my lawn is looking in a month.

Concept sounds pretty nice

Heck of a lot cheaper than gas powered reels.
Not sure my lawn is quite level enough on my slope to cut down to 1" or so

What kinda grass do you have?

I have a hybrid Bermuda variety. Was seeded/sodded prior to when I bought the house. My guess is tif419, but no way to know for sure.
For what it's worth most people can mow their yard lower than they think with a reel mower as long as it's not crazy uneven. My yard is fairly level, although certainly not pool table level. Ill easily scalp my yard in certain spots with a rotary at 1.5", but can take my reel easily at 1inch without issue. With this thing, next year I'll scalp at 0.6" and sand level and maintain at 1" most likely.

How hard is it to sharpen the blades

I haven't done it yet obviously, but from what I read you can backlap it just like any other reel mower (take off the wheel assembly and run it backwards with a drill etc).
I also came across a mod to add a grooved roller to the front, so I might do that as well.
Sunjoe isn't known for the best quality of materials. The biggest downside I've read so far that if you inadvertently hit a bigger twig you might bend a reel and need to rebend it. Though supposedly their pretty decent about replacing their items.

Might grab one just to see how it does. I'm mowing down to 2" right now and have been intrigued with reels

Im interested to know what the cuts looks like and how sturdy the mower is. Currently use a manual reel and have been intrigued about upgrading.

My only issue is my front yard is about 7k sq ft. Any chance I can mow on one charge?

I got mine from PC Richard and son online. Was 179 when I got it compared to 229 everywhere else.
I think 7k sq ft would be pushing it depending on how thick your grass is cutting, how long you're waiting between cuts or if it's a early morning wet dew cut vs dry evening.
As far as the quality, I would definitely say it's not that great of quality. I can tell the reel blades and bedknife blade is more flimsy than my manual reel, which is why some people have had to bend the reel blade back in position after hitting a twig etc. For that reason, I'm mostly likely just going to limit this to my front yard and a portion of a back yard. I bought this fully knowing that. I really didn't want to deal with any gas powered equipment again. Maybe one day ego will make a battery reel.
Time will tell with the quality of cut. The online YouTube vids I've watched seem like it cuts fairly well. I'll definitely repost here once my grass greens back up and thickens again after my recent scalp. Right now it's mostly brown.

Following.
My fiskars is getting old, and Id like to upgrade without spending over $1k.

Almost a year in how are you liking it? Looking for possible birthday toys to buy and am thinking of getting a reel mower for the front yard and some pieces of the back.
