My soil samples showed I was lacking everything. So I'm trying follow the recommendation but I'm also worried about fertilizing in July.

Is that normal? Safe? Centipede lawn fwiw.

Yes it fine to fertilize centipede now, apply 1/2 lb of nitrogen (N) per 1000 sq ft. So that would be 3 1/3 pounds of a 15-0-15 centipede fertilizer per 1000 sq ft. Water it in thoroughly after application in the absence of rain.

Centipede requires minimal fertilization compared to Bermudagrass & St Augustine. Excess fertilization of centipede will “harm” it.

Thanks.

Per my soil test, my NPK were really low which is why I was following a guide of sorts. My lawn was thin, not looking great.

I'm due to apply 16-0-8 in July. I was just concerned with heat, and as you even say too much fert. This is my third application this year, so its not insane amount I'm putting down but I know too much is bad as well. Lawn is looking better than ever though, so must be working so far. My first application was 12-12-12, and second was high potassium, I forget the #s.

Were the soil recommendations for centipede? When and how much 12-12-12 did you apply? If the reccs said P (middle # in fertilizer) was needed and they knew was for centipede, that doesn’t sound right. Centipede needs hardly any phosphorus (P).

Yeah, it was. Honestly, the lawn looks better than has in 3 years since moving in. I don't think the goal is to exceed values, or even put in high range but the soil sample was very low for basic plant health. I have runners for once, thicker looking lawn. It's getting much better for sure.

Try using 0-0-0 for centipede. It doesn’t like much of anything
