Sod now or wait until Spring?

I have a section of my yard that I've been needing to lay sod(St Aug). I nuked the section to kill off the weeds way back in spring time but it got too hot before I could get around to it. I've been spraying any weeds that pop up so the section is still bare and ready for sod.
Should I go ahead and lay sod now and hope it takes and can make it through the winter? Or should I just hold out until spring time?
This is in the Lafayette area if that matters any.

You can lay sod in the winter. If it were me, I would wait a little longer until temps dropped some and then lay it.

Now is a great time to lay sod, provided you can keep it adequately watered and moist. You still have several weeks of growth left in South LA before it gets cold and lawns go dormant.

They say you can lay sod anytime during the year in south LA but it’s a bit risky in late fall/winter if it doesn’t get properly rooted prior to hard freezes. But even then, people lay dormant sod all year long especially when new homes are built. With weather being so hot this year I am thinking we will be able to go into late November before grasses go dormant or partially dormant. With that said I plan to sod within the next couple of weeks which should still leave 4-6 weeks of root establishment before dormancy

I would wait but that's just me. Certainly don't have to.

I just laid down 30 pieces of discounted (oldish) Zoysia from Woerner Turf Thursday of last week. It's already impossible to lift up from the dirt [aka starting to get well rooted]
