My pressure washer starts up and will run on choke but when you let off choke it dies. Sometimes you can leave choke on and use it a little but not long. I changed the carb and it is stalling under load even with the gun off. Could it be the fuel pump? The engine is a Honda 190gc.

Have you checked the fuel and air filter?

Stalling under load usually means it’s not getting enough gas or air. You need to adjust the carb float, there’s a tab you adjust up or down to increase or decrease the rate of flow of gas. There’s also usually a screw or two to adjust the mix ratio of air to gas. It’s also possible this screw is too loose and you are not running a rich enough mix of gas to air ratio.

Best thing is to youtube your motor and ‘how to adjust carb’.

This, and most likely a fuel problem since it works a little while choked. My bet is that the unit was stored without running it out of gas and the carburetor has gummed up a bit.

Two options: take the carburetor apart and clean it thoroughly (including the needle jets) with a solvent such as Brake Cleen, etc. Or, look up the specific carburetor needed and order from Amazon (about $30).

I’ve never understood this, but I’ve read many recommendations on cleaning the exhaust cover by burning it out with torch. Just passing it along. If your carb is good maybe your airflow is restricted on the other end.

Ended up being a dirty spark plug. My father in law changed the carb and the fuel pump and neither changed until he cleaned the spark plug, he never thought to look there, just an fyi
