I'm already doing a rainfall head and a handheld spray.

Are body jets actually useful, or do they just waste water and space?

I bought three of them when we built our house just because I felt like they completed the shower, but I rarely use them. If you have hard water, they will also catch calcium because of the inevitable dripping when you shut them off. If I did it again, I'd probably leave them out.

I was skeptical until we stayed at a fancy resort in highlands NC this Feb that had them in the shower, front and back. Holy shite it was like being in a car wash. Fantastic

I liked them so much I might add a couple of opposing heads in the outdoor shower. Just make sure you have good water pressure

And 3/4 water lines from the supply right into the valves. My brother calls them his knee washers since they didn't upsize the lines.

Yes

I ran 1/2” to my shower head from 3/4” supply and I regret it, I’m going to change those out at some point. If I add the body sprayers I’ll tap right off the 3/4” mains and put a ball valve with handle at each one

I find them massively helpful for cleaning the shower when needed.

My overhead doesn’t come close to rinsing the walls.

How do you turn them on? Or are they always on when you turn the valve on?

for a traditional shower there will be a handle valve that changes flow from the shower head to the sprayers or both. You’ll buy everything together in a fixture set.

Most of the ones I've used and seen have their own diverter.

Remember the old KVM switches for audio? You could toggle it "inside music only", "outside music only" or "both inside and outside music only"? Same principle applies.

My aunt and uncle have that set up in their guest room where I stay and I call it the carwash b/c it's amazing

In my shop/guesthouse, I've run a 1" line from my pressure tank all the way to the water treatment tanks. After that it's 3/4" all the way to the faucets in the guest house. I'm hoping the pressure is a lot better than what I have in the house because the shower heads leave a lot to be desired. The 1" line to the shop is tee'd off the irrigation system which the main is also a 1" line and I added a couple of farm spigots on the irrigation. The volume and pressure at those spigots is way more than I get off the house water spigots so I'm hoping the volume/pressure conveys all the way to the faucets. I got a bit more work to do before I'm fully roughed in though. I went with a body sprayer in the shower with a shower head. The body sprayer is actually on a pole that can move up and down for different heights.

Might want to consider a regular head coming from the wall in addition to the rainfail. The rainfall ones you're either engulfed or standing out of the water completely. If you're washing your hair, or if you shave in the shower, you have to step out of the spray in order to do so...
