Craw, in Louisiana and have bermuda grass. When and what do I need to spray for preemergent to prevent stickers.
The time to apply pre-emergent for lawn burweed (“stickers”) was back in late September/October - as mentioned, sticker seeds have already germinated. The recommended pre-emergents for burweed are Simazine or Isoxaben (Gallery) - Prodiamine and Dimension pre-emergents don’t have good efficacy on lawn burweed.
Look for the young seedling weeds, look like little parsley plants, now, Dec, Jan and spray them with a post-emergent herbicide before they form stickers (seeds). Fertilome Weed Out (Trimec herbicide) or Fertilome Weed Free Zone (mixture of 4 herbicides) are good choices for cool/cold weather.
