After using my universal pipe wrench (mentioned in the MVP tool thread a few weeks ago) to turn off water at the main and reconnect a lot of hoses it wasn’t meant to I’m now in possession of a few new things that I did not have 7 days ago. Thought it would be good in the aftermath to share some things that we all know we will need. I had most of the below but will definitely restock.
My main pain was a 1 inch burst on my 1/2 inch copper pipe on my outside wall for my clothes washer and no power for 2 days.
Generator (duh, let’s get that out of the way)
Water main tool
5 feet of copper, pvc, or PEX matching what you already have
Sharkbite/gatorbite coupler, elbows, turnoff valve
Copper pipe cutting tool ($20 and made a perfect cut above my pipe burst)
Outdoor faucet covers
Kerosine heaters
Universal pipe wrench
Pipe clamps
Water weld putty
Plastic hose or tubing to clamp on a burst
