You know that they could have given that shot in your arm, if you preferred?

Also go to Wal Mart and get this. It helped.

The Technu is good for cleaning the oil off well after exposure. If you can get cleaned off quickly, it should limit the rash. You can also use dishsoap to help break the oil down.

And then no matter what, a good wash rag over the whole area helps clean off the oil too.

If it makes you feel better, there is no such thing as immunity and your sensitivity will only increase with exposure over time.

As a kid, I wasn't allergic/sensitive to it. Never got a rash. Then when I was about 16, my neighbor paid me to clean all the vines off his fence. Many of the vines was poison ivey, and I just grabbed it all and tore it off bare handed because I had never had issues with it.

Apparrently I had become sensitive to it. It was all over me. It was bad.

I'm super careful around it now.

You can do all that or just stop off at the doc in a box and get the steroid shot and be done with it in one day.

The shot has done wonders for me.

I suffered for months with this in the past. Talk about stupid tax.

Yep. I have dealt with it all my life. Being an outdoor person, it’s just something I dealt with. Especially when I deer hunted in Georgia.

Went to Dominican Republic the first time back in 2004. Before it was popular. I had cleaned up the yards the day before. 8 hours after being at the resort, my forearm started to break out. We were on a 10 day trip

It was spreading like wildfire. Up my arm and on my shoulder within hours. We were on the phone with delta looking for a flight home. Wife went down to the gift shop and got some cream but we knew that was a waste of time. Lady there called a doctor who drove over that night. He brought an interpreter. LOL.

He gave me a steroid shot for $150 cash. I was back on the beach the next morning. He came back the next night and game me a booster. Honestly didn’t need it. Every bump was gone over night.

Saved our vacation.

I get poison ivy 4-5 times a year, its everywhere in my back yard. I have become an expert at spotting both poison ivy and oak, but the wind blows and I swear it jumps on me. It is so miserable. I do find that if I see any and I walked near it, taking a shower and using Zanful to scrub, plus VERY carefully taking off my clothes and immediately washing... likely helps.

It makes me not want to go in my yard ever... but I am obsessed with my yard and live out there. I've thought about paying someone to go hunt it all down and pull it/spray it.

Hoping yours has cleared up by now. It takes mine about two weeks to fully go away. Thank god it doesn't leave scars.
