My Samsung washer and dryer have been steady for 14 or so years. Replaced a heating element in the dryer and an exhaust pump in the washer. I'd consider that reliable.
But after reading the rest of the thread...yea, no Samsung fridge in my future.

I have never owned samsung appliances. This are my experiences with family/friends:
- BIL had a samsung fridge with some sort of lighting issue. Samsung could never fix it. If I remember right the interior LEDs just stopped working and couldn't be fixed.
- Same BIL got a new samsung fridge when buying a new house and got one of those with the ice maker that has a design location flaw and there is nothing that can be done to fix it
- Neighbor lady had samsung topload washer with a matching dryer. The washer lasted about 3 years before it failed and Samsung said they couldn't repair it. I tried to fix it for her to try and help save some $ but failed. Then Samsung repair came out and said sorry, can't fix it now pay me $200 for coming out and giving you the news in person.
Every time I am at a house with Samsung appliances I try to ask about them because I always liked Samsung TVs and like the looks of their appliances. Seems like about 50% are happy and the other 50% are in the "never again" category.

Nobody goes around bragging about how well their refrigerator works.
bullshite. i pimp GE every chance i can because i've had fantastic results with them for washer, dryer, stove, and refrigerator. any time one of these pop up i advocate for GE

model I'm looking at is a French door with ice maker in the freezer; no exterior dispensors of any kind.
Does this change things? The majority of issues I've read are with the ice maker, particularly the ice makers that are located in the fridge portion rather than the freezer. Does this change anything?
we have and love this fridge from GE. Water dispenser is invisible inside the door and takes up no space.

Ditto. When we built this current house we went full GE for the kitchen and everything has been awesome. The best toaster I ever had was also a GE. I know they aren't perfect but they seem solid. This has me wanting to get GE for a new washer and dryer sometime soon.

The oldest thing in my house other than a couple of college sweatshirts my wife and I have is the Oster toaster we got as a wedding gift 20 years ago. I’d love to replace it.
Dang thing won’t die.

my Kenmore Elite french door top and freezer bottom went out Monday. Called service guy and he came this morning. Said that there is a freon leak, but almost impossible to find, therefore, impossible to change part.
his recommendation, buy new fridge, particularly Whirlpool.
I bought this one today.

had to cut out some of the kids Christmas gifts lol j/k

I have this exact same fridge. I have had it for close to 5 years now, and it has been a great fridge. The best thing about this unit is there is no ice or water dispenser in the door. So far I have been very happy with it.
ETA: No ice or water in the door keeps grandkids from screwing with it 24/7.

Do not buy a Samsung refrigerator/freezer, unless they have resolved the icemaker issues....
Great fridge, but the icemaker is a disaster.....read up on it and you will see. Lawsuits in action.

Samsung knows about their shitty defrost system and did nothing to fix it.
I called Samsung a few months back to see what they were recommending for the “ice maker freezing over” issue and they arranged someone to come out and replace the ice maker. The guy basically travels from Laffy to NOLA replacing these ice makers all day. He was really good and insightful on what the issue is. It was a design flaw and didn’t charge a dime for the service.

I had a Samsung dishwasher for years. It cleaned great and was quiet. It also BROKE 50 times! It was the best performing piece of crap I've ever owned.
It was a known defect that caused the plastic clips to break on the top rack. It would then eat those peaces and cause me to uninstall the entire thing, flip it on it's back, remove the hoses/power and fix.
I will never own another Samsung anything.

I am not reading that bs you posted but what you want but if you buy Samsung good luck it will shot the bed and no one will repair it.
Do this try and call and have the make believe Samsung appliance you don’t own repaired tell me how that goes.

Same issues as everyone else with the Samsung icemaker. My mom repeatedly had to have hers replaced under warranty, she finally got an LG. It's got 2 icemakers and one of them makes ice balls, it's pretty badass

Mine hasn’t come close to icing over again. But if it did my wife would lose her shite and get rid of it. If I had to do it again, I’d go GE or Whirlpool simply because repairs are easier to come by. Nobody repairs Samsung appliances.
