I'll agree with this. I have a Zero turn, Im not pushing a reel.

You can dominate with any kind of mower. Obviously reel would exude the most dominance but having a level yard and weed management are equally important.

My yard isn’t level enough for my zero turn (to dominate) so I push with a rotary. But I keep the weeds in check with chemical warfare.

Sprigs were about 24 hours old from a verticut, and the area may be too shady. I scalped my rye and roughed up the area with a cultivator.
We will see.

Looks good. Really starting to thicken and fill it for you.

Mines been slow to thicken up this year. I really should be spoon feeding every 2 weeks instead of just doing monthly. I'm about due to fert again next week, so might half dose it and split it every 2 weeks. And then hit it with tnex. Might also raise the hoc a touch. My tif419 always seems to do better at 1.25-1.5inches than the 1inch I'm at now. I moved a sprinkler head as well to help with better sprinkler coverage. Whoever the previous homeowners had install their system was terrible from a design perspective.

Otherwise, I've had a sedge problem this year. 2nd app of sedgehammer on a couple spots(hence the yellowing of the grass in the distance). Usually sedgehammer takes care of everything, but may need to switch it up to dismiss or certainty if the sedges don't start dieing off in the next 2 weeks.

Spf 30 kbg in the back is holding though starting to thin out. Will see how it survives the next 2 months.

I’ve been wondering about this experiment. Do you plan on watering it extra or just let it ride and over-seed in the fall?

I'm planning for 1.5inches/wk through the summer with short runs in the afternoon if the temp hit above 95-100. I run the risk of cause fungal disease though, so will probably hit with a fungicide july and August and then will see what I have in Sept. I'll probably throw some seed done but honestly once the temps start to cool down I'll be able to fert the backyard and the kbg will hopefully thicken and fill in for the Fall/winter/spring next year.
