I want to raise the privacy of my fence by 2 ft. Are there anyway options other than redoing the whole fence?

None that will look good. Could plant shrubs to make a hedge but would take years to fill in

Add a thick, decorative top rail

They sell fence toppers at Home Depot. Maybe you can figure out how to add one to your existing fence.

Pics of the current fence would be helpful.

Also, check the codes and regs in your jurisdiction. Most have a height limit for privacy fences (7 feet in Jefferson Parish, but you can cheat and add a 1 ft. mudboard for "retaining wall" to get to a total height of 8 feet...)

I just want to add on to my back fence, the good side of the fence faces towards my house if that helps.

Thanks for comments.

Looks like the easiest and best option would be what TAMU suggested.

Thanks, I guess I would just need to replace the fence post to get the height to secure the trellis?

you can set sister posts alongside the existing posts, or set new posts at the midpoint of the existing panels. the erect your new panels attached to the new posts

You could probably replace with 8ft boards but without support close to the top they would warp.

From the outside of the fence, attach 8' rails through the fence into your existing posts. Attach the lattice to the rails. Trim it out to your liking. Something like this...

Outside

Inside
