Lesco 0-0-7 Spring and Fall
The Andersons Barricade is better but pricey
Lesco is fine

What granular do you use in the back? I need something good pre-emergent because I have dallisgrass BAD

Usually use Lesco Stonewall because they sell it at Lowes (see link in my first comment) or Hi Yield dimension granular. Unfortunately, though, pre-emergents won’t help your dallisgrass problem because that is a perennial weed.

Congrats on the 1 story ~11k sq ft house.

Hmmm I get what you're saying (albeit with noted sarcasm). I need to recalculate. Thanks for the correction.

I know the driveway and other concrete probably doesn't take up that much space. And it's a 2 story home...but nowhere near that square footage. Also there's an alley between me and the next guy and I probably didn't account for that in the front yard total.

So what's my best solution for that stuff? MSM?

I guess I should re-phrase. Pre-emergents will help prevent new dallisgrass seeds from germinating, so not totally a waste.

Others can chime in on this but dallisgrass is one of the toughest weeds in warm season grasses. I personally have seen neighbors spray dallisgrass with Round Up, 1 week later all the surrounding turf is brown to shite and the dallisgrass looks a beautiful green in the center lol. MSM won’t touch dallisgrass, Celsius doesnt do much either in my experience. I pull the stuff by hand when it pops up but if you have a serious problem I’m not sure what the answer is.

Unfortunately, I have not had any success with pre-emergents and have watched my yard continuously get worse over the past few years. It seems the dallisgrass is taking over my yard.

I tried this this past winter when the turf grass was dormant and it didn’t work. The turf grass died along with dallisgrass. Unfortunately, the dallisgrass and every other weed known to mankind has moved into that area and is starting to take over the rest of the good turf grass in that area.

2 days after you mow, the dallisgrass leaves will be taller than the surrounding grass. Get a bottle of the Roundup Concentrate and a paint brush and paint the dallisgrass leaves with the concentrated round up. Wait two days to cut and you should kill the majority of the dallisgrass.

This will kill a little of your desired turf because it’s impossible to be perfect, but it should bounce back in a few weeks. You may have to repeat a few spots that you missed or didn’t get enough of the dallisgrass leaves painted, but I’ve had success with that method in my centipede. Dallisgrass doesn’t mess with my Bermuda.

On this note, round up does make a gel that is easier to paint on without dripping and works pretty well.
