My family is looking to get a small, indoor, hypoallergenic, puppy and was hoping someone here had recs for reputable breeders. 10-12 pounds full grown. We've narrowed it down to maltipoo, Brussels griffon, scottie, or affenpinscher.

Sorry if this is the wrong board. Admins feel free to move.

Scottish terriers are up to 20 lbs fully grown. No dogs are hypoallergenic. That’s just marketing fluff for designer breeds

That's true that Scottie's get bigger than the 10-12 pounds I said was a requirement. It's the one dog that is bigger that I could possibly get past the Mrs.

You're right that there is no breed that is 100% hypoallergenic, there are most definitely breeds that drop less dander than others, which makes them an option for people who are sensitive to it. It's way easier to say hypoallergenic, than breeds with a non-shedding undercoat which produces less dander.

A buddy who raises show-quality terriers told me that reputable breeders make you sign a contract to never resell or rehome the dog.

If you don't end up keeping the dog for its life, you agree to return it to the breeder and forfeit your adoption fee.

He said that if the seller doesn't make you sign such a contract, you're dealing with a backyard breeder who won't adequately screen the dam and sire for genetic problems.

This seemed unbelievable until I called a local breeder and was told that yes, they make you sign that contract.

Has anyone else seen this?

Never buy a dog when the breeder say the pup is CKC. CKC is not a real kennel organization like the AKC is. You will find out that the headquarters of the CKC is located in Walker, Louisiana. They will always put CKC behind any breed of dog. My vet told me about the CKC.

Absolutely. If a breeder doesn't require returning the dog if you can no longer care for it then find another breeder.
