Pool Repair Recommendation

I have an inground vinyl liner pool that either has a leak or I’m having groundwater issues. Either way I may need someone to do some work on the pool. I’ve fought this battle with my pool for years and I’ve found that most pool guys are very unreliable, kind of like the last guy I used. Anyone have a recommendation for someone to call? I’m in Prairieville.

Call American Leak Detection (225) 330-7085 and have them locate the source of the issue. Either go with their recommendation on who to call to fix your issue or attempt it yourself.

Call a reputable pool guy instead of what the industry calls “one pokers”. (a guy with a truck with one pool pole hanging out the bed)
I hear Sibley Pools is good. That’s who I’m calling if I have a problem I can’t deal with myself.
Don’t call ALD unless you’re convinced you have an underground plumbing leak!
Also don’t call Sabine or Longanekers both are crooks. Leslies and pinch a penny don’t have personell to handle this either

Can you feel a squishy action where the floor meets the wall?
Use some goggles to check all the wall fittings skimmers lights etc
Turn off the pump get in pool alone and squirt some phenol red around the fittings. If it is a leak you can see the red leak out. If the red dissipates that area sn’t leaking. Check the step are really well
Good Luck and ask more questions if needed

Yep, spongy where wall meets floor in deep end. Liner losing its seal so some wrinkles form in the shallow end. I’ve been down this road many times before. It’s either ground water or a liner leak. Highly likely it’s a liner leak.
I tested water that I suck out using the behind the liner drain that was put in when the pool was built. Very, very small amount of chlorine but ground water has no chlorine so that tells me it’s a leak. Although the chlorine could be coming from the first burst of water from the pool when I switch the valves over to the liner drain.
Either way, I know about the dye test, but my point is that even if I know where the leak is coming from, I still need a recommendation for someone to fix it. Have you used Sibley? Do they handle things like this?

My pool is plaster and I have no clue about fiberglass but -
I just used ALD and am very happy. $500 - guy came out, found a leak where my skimmer basket meets pool wall. I'd been struggling with it for a while now, my leak would clog up with debris so sometimes it leaked and sometimes not.
Took the due 2 hours, he told me to go get pool epoxy for $20 and call it a day. He'd have done it for me but didn't have any. I would call them again no hesitancy.

You have pictures of your set up? Is there poolcrete under the vinyl liner? Are you close to rivers/ponds? Ground water can definitely float a liner or if you do not have good drainage in the area around your pool it will float it. You said you’ve been down this road before so to get the wrinkles out you can pump the pool down and suck it back down with a qvac. I mean it could be a million different things. Some pictures and I could help you try and diagnose what the problem is.

Also if you have a plumbing leak you can pressure test those pretty easily. You don’t have to buy a kit you can make the plugs and fittings with a gauge easily and cheaper than the 500 for someone to come look at it. You could tell if it was dropping pressure although it if it’s just a slow leak it would be more difficult to tell.

Yea it's a steep price, but the company name is "American Leak Detection" not "American Leak Detection & Remediation"
From their website:
"We understand what an inconvenience this can be for you, and make every effort to ensure the job gets done quickly and correctly. If we were the ones who detected the leak, we will immediately provide an estimate on the repair service."
Sounds like the guy could have charged well beyond $500 to just put some A+B Epoxy over the source of the leak, but just told him what to do instead.

Update. ALD found 3 pinhole leaks in one spot and patched it. That seems to have solved all of the problems. At least I hope so.
