Pool people help UPDATE #3

I leave on Thursday and pump is running. At some point yesterday the pump stopped running. I get home from Austin today and they’re not running. I’ve tried to flip the breakers and nothing. There is adequate water in the pool. Half way up the skimmers. Any ideas why the pump won’t come on? The water features fire right up. Thanks.
ETA: Pentair super Flo VSP
ETA 2: I don't have any power going to the motor. I messed with the breakers, and there is one breaker that will not trip when I test it. Could that breaker be bad and not allow power to the motor?
ETA 3: there was nothing wrong with the system. Somehow the schedule and timer changed. I did not change it, because I don’t know how. It just randomly changed itself.

How old. I feel like 5 years is about what you get from these pool motors. Flip breaker and turn on. Do you hear anything. Hum and then a shite off?

Installed 5/26. The error code is F90052.
I tried the steps it suggested. I don’t hear anything click when I turn it on. The water features controlled from the same box work fine.

The F90052 code on a Pentair pool pump indicates a power out, low voltage, or power interruption fault. This alarm frequently triggers after a power outage, brown-out, or electrical surge, which causes the pump to lock its internal drive and stop the motor.

Anything looks fricked up on inside the controller? Melted wires? Oozing capacitors?
You have it on a controller board? Going to probably have to call the install company. Maybe bypass until you have time to replace/repair. You’ll probably need a new board

It all looked good when unopened it up. I am sure I can get someone out to look at it before Thanksgiving.

Starting capacitor on the pump motor is out. Cheap fix

I agree with the capacitor change. Cheap and easy to install.

Is this something you have done?

Yep. Cut off the circuit breaker. Take the capacitor out, go to the pool supply store and get a new. Put it in an turn breaker back on and you are good to go

Can you email me? Thanks.

After doing research, the capacitor on this pump is enclosed in a sealed compartment. It is not something I can easily switch out.

F90052 on Pentair equipment (typically an IntelliFlo or IntelliFlo VSF variable speed pool pump) is a “Power Out/Off” or communication/power fault alarm. It often occurs after a power outage, surge, wiring issue, or when the pump loses communication with a controller (e.g., EasyTouch, IntelliTouch, or automation system). ?
Basic Troubleshooting Steps
1. Power Cycle the Pump and System (most common fix):
• Turn off the circuit breaker(s) for the pump (and any automation controller) for at least 30–60 seconds (some recommend 5+ minutes).
• Turn the breaker back on.
• Wait for the pump to initialize and check if the alarm clears. ?
2. Check for Power Issues:
• Inspect the power supply, wiring, and connections at the pump and breaker panel for loose wires, burnt/melted insulation, corrosion, or damage.
• Verify voltage at the pump (should match specs, e.g., 230V).
• Look for tripped breakers, GFCI issues, or surge protector problems. A power surge can trigger this. ?
3. Reset the Pump/Controller:
• On the pump control panel, try navigating to alarms/settings and clear the alarm if possible (some models lock keys until reset).
• If connected to automation (e.g., Pentair controller), reset or reboot the controller as well.
• Check the pump’s display for additional error details. ?
4. Inspect Drive and Internal Components:
• Ensure the pump is not blocked or overheated.
• For persistent issues, check the drive assembly or control board (common failure point after power events).
5. Advanced Steps (if basic reset fails):
• Update firmware if your model supports it (via Pentair app or dealer).
• Test communication cables between pump and controller (if applicable).
• Replace faulty parts like the drive or specific boards (e.g., references to part 356878Z in some cases).

I have power leaving the breaker but none to the motor. Somewhere in the control panel, I am losing power.

How are you testing it? Can you reset it or will it just trip right away?

Does the control panel have it’s own reset button?

Yes, doesn't fix the problem.
