This is one thing NextDoor is good for. Someone posted a gripe about a well known local plumbing company, and about 30 others chimed in with horror stories. Most replies I’d ever seen on something like that.

That post probably saved a lot of potential clients from becoming victims.

We had the same thing happen at my mom's older home.

Plumber came out and snaked it for an hour or so, found out she had been flushing baby wipes for years.

He pulled 100 or so out and charged her $250.00

Later he came back and pulled a bunch more out and charged her again (?) . Guess it's a flat fee per hour worked or something

I’ve used lye (sp) crystals that work pretty well. They usually clear anything but roots

Go with a different plumber. This guy is a shitty plumber AND a shitty businessman. Make sure to warn friends and family against using him

ETA: He's also ripping you off with that price. My plumber charges $115 to show up. Hourly rate after that is $80 I think (plus cost of any parts he has to purchase).

$100ish to show up is what I’m accustomed to. In this scenario I would call the guy back. If he asked for a continuation on his previous time as if it were one visit, I’d happily pay it.

He pulls this shite? I’ll pay up to double for another guy to do it because frick him.

You honestly think that works.
Small claims court for 250 chalk it up to shitty service and never use them again.
The reality is go buy a sewer machine from home depot 1/2" cable x75'-0" long should be about $600/700 and do it yourself or rent a cable for $150.00
