I if I needed to replace a Kitchen Aid (which has been a POS) dishwasher- but still wanted to have my cabinet panel (OT baller) what’s my best bet to find one?

Our local store- who did the appliances originally told me October for delivery.

Current unit leaks (again), heater doesn’t work (again) and the wheels keep coming off the rack.

Has Kitchen Aid improved? Or should I look for another brand?

Appliances parts and replacements have been ridiculous.
Good luck to you.

Dishwasher construction is total crap in general. I researched the hell out of them before purchase and am on my 3rd dishwasher in 7 years in my house.

For the last one, I bought the HOme Depot warranty which after researching I thought would come in handy bc of how cheaply these things are made and it wasn’t that expensive.

Sure enough it has already paid off. One of the cheap plastic connectors to the roller system for the top sheet broke/sheared after 13 months (shocking it broke right after 1 yr parts warranty) and the HD plan is covering replacing the rack and installation.

I know this isn’t helpful to you but I needed to vent.

When we spec appliance packages, we typically will use wolf/subzero/cove as upper, thermador mid, and kitchen aid lower. Kitchen aid is still a pretty good product, but it is not OT baller status. I would not hesitate to get another kitchen aid, but you might be waiting for a while. The last project we built with a specified thermador package, the appliances needed to be substituted because Thermador could not even give a time line. Spend a little bit more and look at Cove. They are now owned by Wolf/Subzero, and it is a really quality product. If you are a true OT baller, it shouldn't be an issue to make the step up.

Yep- everything else in this house is Wolf, Subzero, and Scotsman on the nugget ice machine- see I promised I was an OT baller.

I had major major doubts when the appliance guy recommended this thing- but I was already tired of the 18 month build time on this house so I capitulated.

So- Cove we will look at! Thanks!

Generally speaking Kitchenaid makes quality stuff. Very likely you just got a dud. You may have great luck with the other higher end brands but realize you are paying a lot more and parts are a shite ton more usually.

I doubt you’ll regret a Bosch 800-series panel-ready dishwasher.
