I have 2ea 72" fanimation 9 blade ones from Lowes (~$300 ea). Moved to these from some cheap smaller ones. These things put out some air, love them, highly recoment.

protractor? im not asking for some geometry.

My issue is my existing fan with the kits with 4 separate exposed bulbs barely lights up my patio. And seems these light kits only project light downward and not in all directions.

Som in trying to think of other patio lighting Ideas.

honestly i don't even use the light on it. i have can lights and string lights under my patio. If i had to guess, they would be inadequate as i've never seen a light kit on a fan that produced any sort of robust lighting.

I have a Minka Air H2O outside and it's been great.

However, several weeks ago, we started hearing some grinding noise coming from the motor.

then the fan would barely turn and the grinding was constant.
I took the fan down and took it apart completely.
turns out the part of the fan the the blades runs on is basically just a metal cup/sheath over the motor with 2 or 3 small spot welds.
The welds failed. I took a punch and hit welds and it worked for a short time and it's now grinding again.

I need to take it town and put in some screws.

It's a bad design in my opinion.

regular 52" hunter indoor fans work best for patios and porches but the wooden blades will sag over time

I went with the 52" hunter outdoor fans and the blades haven't sagged even after 9 years. I assume they are made with teak but they are impressive.

I have had one for a couple years and I am still fairly happy with mine. It runs like it is supposed to. All blades look good with no sagging but you do need to be directly below it to feel the air moving. I don’t have the light kit so I can’t help you there.

Mine is still working great, I am about to add another one to the patio. I have recommended them to multiple other people but nobody I know of has used the light kit.

What size patio do you use the 52” for? I need to upgrade both of mine on my patio. Trying to decide on the size.

Not sure if that was meant for me because I went with the 65” Minka. My covered patio is not that big but it fits fine. It is directly above a kids small picnic outdoor table and gives them good air movement. All of my other seating is not under cover so we rely on oscillating and directional fans for those areas.

what credit card did you buy It it with....a lot of them double the warranty up to a year. So the first year is on the manufacturer and then the credit card would cover the next year

This what my problem. I have a smaller screened in porch (15x20) and needed to replace the fan and lighting kit. Most outdoor fans that have a light kit seem like the light kit was a secondary thought. Ended up going with the Hunter River Ridge...not the prettiest fan out there but it puts off plenty of light and moves the air

Look at the fanimation fans at Lowe’s online. It’s a great brand and their lowes line is priced less than the fanimation line sold at fan and lighting dealers. I put two 52” fans in my patio and love them.
