Some do sell to general public. Doug Young is one of those, I believe. 10% over listed price and do your own selection and loading.

Doug young nursery does sell to the public. They’ll give you a price list and a map. You do load your own plants.

Go down Hwy 112 off of i 49 . Plenty of nurseries that sell to the public . Great product at awesome prices . We drive from Alexandria twice a year , bring a big truck and be prepared . Better if you don't bring your wife .

Not sure how the recovery is going, but all of those nurseries were devastated last winter with that huge ice storm. We went in the spring and it was a disaster. Many, many greenhouses were destroyed. The selection of plants was limited. Keep that in mind.

I took a trailer over from BR and got $1,200 of BR-priced trees for like $250.

One tree in BR was around $250, got it for $35

Went last week and bought a bunch from Youngs. Got everything I wanted for about $200. Same stuff would have cost A LOT MORE locally!

Think so. I know I saw a place selling them for $5 on the highway from 49 to DY's place. Sign on left side of the road headed west.

When is the best time to go to the FH area for plants?

I was assuming early spring, but do they have a big selection year round?

Sorry if it is a dumb question- I've never been up there

These all survived the freeze, but all they had were 1 gallon when I went this past spring. They weren't real healthy, either. Cheap, but kinda straggly looking.

I ended up buying a bunch (price), but I picked up a few 3 gallon from a local nursery & they were much healthier (and more expensive).

They looked so bad after the freeze she wouldn't sell them to me . I usually deal with Sam stokes and Sam Poole . Easy and cheap . Hawkins has a great product, but the lady is extremely rude and not someone I will ever do business with again .

Stopped at Doug Young Nursery a couple weekends ago and they had 3 gal ShiShis right in front of their checkout booth - I’m pretty sure I saw plenty more on their nursery grounds when I was driving around their operation. .

Larry Bates Nursery. Camillas are they only thing he sells and has thousands of them. You won’t be disappointed if you stop by. Right across the street from BWI on Fish Hatchery rd

The best camellia selection and quality you will find anywhere near Louisiana, IMO. For $30, you will get a giant japonica.
