I believe this is what’s popping up in my yard. I hit it with Celsius/MSMTurf mix today because that’s my go to and I can’t seem to find much info on how to kill it. Any of you fellas dealt with it?

Pennywart/dollarweed?
Super common here.
Don’t hit it with the hard stuff. Trimec should be ok. Maybe even just 24D.

Thus doesn’t look like dollar weed…. I found it online after some searching. Apparently it’s fairly common but I can’t find anything on how to kill it.

If it looks like dollarweed but not quite then it is dicondra. Celsius will kill it.

If it’s what most think it is, dollarweed or dichondra (“ponyfoot”), just be sure you use a surfactant, spreader-sticker, in the herbicide solution - they have a very waxy leaves & the surfactant increases efficacy of the herbicide by increasing absorption.

Would help if you could attach a close up photo of the weed to let people on the board help you with proper identification.

Looks like it could be moneywort=creeping jenny based on the photo though I have no experience with it. You ever see it produce yellow flowers?

I can send the photo to the turf weed control specialist with the LSU AgCenter to see if he can ID it from the photo, unless ronk or some else jumps back in and IDs it from the photo.

I see a little spurge growing underneath it. If the Celsius+MSM mixture doesn’t kill it in the few weeks then some additional homework will be required. If if is moneywort, looks from the literature a Trimec herbicide herbicide containing 2,4-D could help control it, but it’s too hot to use that now without impacting the lawn.

iNaturalist agrees with you on it being Moneywort. It is just hard to 100% ID a lot of stuff like that without a bloom because so much stuff looks similar when it is just the foliage of a plant visible.

Thanks Craw, it hasn’t flowered and this is the first time I’ve seen it. The leaves started turning today like clover does when it’s dying so I’m hoping the mixture will put it down. If you send the pic, let me know what they say, I’d be interested in any info they can provide. I stayed away from the 2-4D because of the heat, if this doesn’t work, I may have to do it anyway. I’ll let yall know if it works.
