The wife and I purchased a Maytag washer/Dryer set the day after we got married (day before we left for our honeymoon). That was 29 years ago in February. Still going, Have payed for repairs twice, total repair bill has been less than the $750 we paid for them. Can't seem to kill those.

I might be in the minority on this but I’ve had my kenmore for 10 years and it’s just as good as the day as I bought it. I think I paid like 1200 for the washer/dryer set. Ours are used a lot also we do at least one load a day most days

Also they say they have an in-house service technician that works on the appliances they sell if needed, if that’s a fact, that might be a consideration for you as well - it was for me.

They do have an in-house service tech that does a good job. Problem is, it takes three weeks to get an appointment.

You should have bought some weed from Mike and Doug Gorman while you were there. They blaze every day.

she wants them both to match

Don't get hung up on that.

What are you going to do, take everyone who comes to your house into the laundry room to show them the machines?

You have had smelly clothes for more than 15 years. Your friends should do an intervention and tell you.

My wife and I had the same experience with a Maytag washer that I got used when I was in college in the 80’s. She made me give it away before we moved into a new house in 2005. Went through two Maytag top loads (broke down) and one Bosch front load HE (gave it to the church after my wife got fed up with washing clothes 3 or 4 times because they stunk). Bought another Maytag and it lasted about 5 years before breaking down. Bought a SQ top load and all is well. The Maytags of today are nowhere near as good as the old ones.
