Doing a little half bath refresh this week. I bought a Glacier Bay toilet and after installing it tonight, it doesn’t flush all the way. The bowl is level and the tank is as well. All the water dumps into the bowl but the bowl doesn’t clear out.

This is the one I got.

I have some sort of glacier Bay crap toilet that came in my house. I had to buy extensions for the standpipe to bypass the water saving feature so it would flush better.

Sounds like maybe there was something in the toilet? Partial blockage by packing material or something?

Or, do you have a wax ring issue? Maybe not a good seal or a blockage by being misaligned a little?

Did you check out this research sight before purchasing your new pot?
map testing

Problem may have a simple solution. Take cover off the tank. Hit the trigger and watch how much water is left in the tank. It may be as simple as holding the trigger down for a thee count to release more water from the tank to clear the bowl.

ETA didn't read too good.

Can you raise the tank fill level any more?

Looks like that toilet has a "vacuum assist". I don't know what that is but I'd bet it has something to do with your problem. On the Q&A comment section, they are talking about how the seal between the tank and bowl must be perfect or the assist won't work.

tbh, sounds like a pita design. Sorta like my american standard "vortex" toilet I bought that clogs 3x a week, needs 6 flushes to get the air out of its special high s-trap after the clog is cleared, has a Rube golderberg system of flappers that only doesn't leak for about 2 months after replacing the $20 silicone seals. Goddamn I hate that thing. My Kohler in the other bathroom with a simple canister flush has been flawless. Both toilets are 1.28gpf ---rant over

Yeah, I did a little more research last night. I'm taking this one back and getting an old school flapper design. Didn't realize this one had it when I bought it. I put in a basic Glacier Bay in my daughter's bathroom about 5 years ago and it has been great. This one looked similar and had good ratings, so I grabbed it without realizing it had the different internals and vacuum assist. I tinkered with the tank again, and the water levels, and held the handle down until it all emptied from the tank, but it still wouldn't empty out in the bowl. Some things are just not worth messing with. Flappers work, and if you have to flush it 2-3 times, you're not saving any water anyways.

Flappers work,

They do have have for many many years. Though a lot of manus have gone to a cannister style that I alluded to on the Kohler. Its been working great and seems to be a simple easily serviceable design.

Hope you can take it back. seems like I've heard of people it not being easy to return toilets given the nature of their use....Or thats the excuse anyway.

Reading the description:

Vacuum-assisted flush clears 7 billiard balls on the first flush

Do you have the correct number of billard balls? Hope you aren't crapping in it too.

That happened to me on my powder room toilet after getting new flooring. There was some foundation work done there and the floor wasn’t quite right so I first tried to double wax ring it and the alignment was off.
I ended up getting this.

Glacier Bay

Found the problem. Anyone reading this, never use glacier bay anything. You will be replacing it in 3 years when it inevitably leaks or you get tired of trying to get it to function properly.
