I built 20 years ago and bought a tape from a guy named Doug Rye, an Architect in Arkansas. The tape explains things to do to build an energy efficient house. Several of the suggestions are between $50 and $200 and can be done by you in a few hours on a Saturday or Sunday.

I doubled my sq. ft. and cut my electric bills in half when compared to my old house.
