I’m having a couple of exterior doors replaced and the salesman was pushing fiberglass over metal. Is one better than the other?

Yep, I did a lot of exterior painting in my day and just about every metal door was dented and rusted along the bottom edge.

I'd NEVER put a metal door on my house.

the closest thing to weatherproofing an outside door is going fiberglass with the PVC jambs. don't do anything else or you will be replacing every few years with rotted jambs or rusted metal

What’s the price difference?

I agree that PVC jambs are the way to go, but haven’t had rust issues if kept painted.

What about security? Are metal doors more secure than fiberglass?

I agree with all the other comments on metal doors.

The fiberglass is a couple dollars more but not enough for it to matter.
