Don’t even bother with this absolute garbage of a product. Yes, it will green your yard, but it clumps SO BAD. I bought three bags a while back when it was on sale and I was so happy when I finally finished spreading it because it clumped the entire time, clogging the opening in my spreader. And before yall ask, it was 100% dry as a bone. I had a screwdriver in my pocket that I’d use to break it up so it could pass through the opening and I had to do this every 50 steps or so.
Complete pain in the arse and I’ll never use that brand again.

I have some, it doesn’t clump as bad as your bag did, but it leaves a ton of black dust/tar all over the spreader. Do you know what that is?

Same experience here. I use(d) a lot of it, but it’s so damn frustrating to use. Large black clumps of non-fertilizer all mixed in that won’t break up or just smear at the bottom of the spreader.
I bought a bunch of the Sunniland brand for a similar price. It’s 24-0-11, so a little less N.
I’ve also been using just straight Urea for many applications.
Put down over 200 lbs per application, so always looking for a decent price.

Damn. Sounds like it was on sale for a reason. My areas are small enough to use with the hand held. I’ll have to see if that makes a difference.

Yep, that’s what clumped, that black stuff, and no I don’t know what it is.
Never again, though. I’ll opt for the more expensive stuff next time.

Edit: I’d only purchase again because of the price point. $18 for 15 lbs of nitrogen is a really good deal.

It's a residue/dust that's present in the bag and as you spread it, it settles to the bottom of the spreader, thus clogging it.

Lesco is a professional brand of fertilizer used by a ton of companies that operate yard maintenance companies. 99% of it is purchased at SiteOne landscaping supply. I think you probably got some that was from last season. I’ve seen Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart, and TruValue park pallets of fertilizer outside where it got rained on before they moved it back under a roof. I cringed last week because I saw a whole pallet of 20 lb smoking pellets getting rained on. Sure would hate to have bought a USDA Prime grade brisket and not knowingly smoked that with pellets that had gotten rained on.
I’ve utilized Lesco from SiteOne, I’m talking hundreds of bags, and the product was always outstanding. It was always in a clean fresh bags because they sell pallets of it daily thus it doesn’t sit around for a year. When Lesco is being sold at Home Depot cheaper than buying direct from the dealer that raises a red flag. I don’t even like Home Depot Lesco Prodiamine because typically you can tell it’s been sitting there 6-12 months.
