A lot of squirrels are going to die this week.

That dragonfruit volunteer is cool. I had the same thing happen with a namwah banana. Cut out a few pups last October and threw them on my burn pile in the back. Winter happens, 1 foot of snow, now I have 2 namwahs growing in my burn pile somehow.

I stacked 'em like cordwood. Really hope no neighbors called the cops, but it's a very quiet gun.

Are you shooting subsonics? I open a bedroom windows and shoot from inside. Can't even hear the gun go off from outside

Yep. Gemtech subsonic 22. Cycles great. My Benjamin air rifle is louder.

You may not remember me but a month ago I was asking about my meyer lemon tree here in south Florida. I was not getting any blooms. Then all the sudden, my tree started budding. You recommended two types of fertilizer and I have been using both

Well the tree did bloom like crazy just as we were discussing things then over a week or so, all the blooms feel off and I never got anything after that. No buds or fruit starting to grow.

Since I have my tree potted and inside of my pool cage, could I have a pollination issue?

Yeah man I remember your post. So a couple of things could be happening here. Citrus trees will stress bloom if they think they're gonna die. So if you've got extreme cold, heat, drought, root disturbance, etc. they will bloom like crazy and then not set fruit. Usually this is accompanied by leaf drop.

As long as you used the fertilizers in accordance with the labels, this should not be a fertilizer issue.

If the tree is in a totally enclosed area, then it is possible your flowers are not being pollinated. People up north who grow exclusively indoors hand pollinate with a q-tip or paint brush, but I find you can easily do it with your fingers just by poking the open flowers.

If you don't mind, post some pictures of the tree, pot, soil, and closeups of the leaves, root flare, graft union, and flowers. I've got a great track record with citrus and should be able to help.

But I saw that you're in south Florida... if it's HLB/greening then it's a lost cause.

The gold standard for potted citrus is osmocote plus and weekly applications of liquid foliage pro. I have used this on orange, lemon, lime, and kumquat containers trees with great results.

My mango that died is sprouting new growth below the graft. I got no idea what it was grafted to. Should I keep or discard?

For in-ground citrus just use any citrus fertilizer. I like Espoma. Lisbon is extremely cold sensitive so if it took a lot of cold this winter it may not have been able to flower. Did you protect it?

I would remove anything below the graft. That's turpentine mango rootstock. Only keep it if you want to try your hand at grafting. You can buy budwood cheap online and graft it onto the rootstock. Too much of a headache for me. I don't graft or airlayer anything unless I have to.

I will take some pics tomorrow. Tree has looked OK. No leaf drop. I did not start fertilizing with the two things you recommended until around the time the petals fell off. I put the osmocote in the soil once and I have been using the Dyna-gro about once a week or every 10 days. Not using much of the dyna gro as the usage is very concentrated I guess. Just a few spoonfulls for my 2 gallon mixing bucket

Has plenty of new growth going on and the new leaves look pretty good. Last year late in the year, I think I got spider mites, according to a friend, and I used Neen oil on it a few times but there was no fruit.

If I need to use another kind of spray for bugs/fungus prevention, fire away and let me know. I have not seen any bugs on it this year and the leaves look pretty good. I have been getting some mushrooms growing in the soil over the last few weeks.

I did however have issues outside the pool cage with my hibiscus bushes. Damn deer ate them up then they were struggling. I cut them way back a few months back, even though it was not time, and now they are doing great.

Pics tomorrow when I get home from work and thank you for all your help. We are new to this and learning a lot

My ruby guava is doing great, actually have some fruit on it! It’s go good vertical growth pattern, should I tip the laterals to promote branching like a mango tree? Or let it role ?

I'm wondering about this as well. It's about as tall as I can easily fit in the house during winter.
