Costco has this for $599 in store. Anyone experience this vs a BGE? Ive got about $800 in "play" money and thought this may be a good thing to blow it on. My father in law has a BGE and cooks like a king. I can do the same here?
I have a 36 inch blackstone that i do a lot of stuff on but obviously it isnt a true grill. My true grill is in need of an upgrade.

I have the BGE... Amazing piece of hardware... that being said I think you will be fine with the Louisiana grills or a kamado Joe.
Just get you lots of gadgets to go with it. Also make sure you do a few cooks under 250-300 degrees first to "break it in" (whatever that means).... also make sure that you change your felt out every couple years as it ensures a nice tight seal so you don't get excess air movement

I've been running a cheap Academy ceramic for nearly 7 years now. I don't even know what brand it is, but most BGE parts fit it.
My point is that they all cook the same. The difficult thing will be replacing the parts and maintaining it if the company goes out of business. At some point, I will not be able to replace the hinges, vents or interior ceramic components. the brand name of BGE, Kamado joe or Primo will buy you that security.

go buy the vision classic B at academy for 499. had mine going on 7 years. zero issues. i use all the large BGE accessories (rib rack, platesetter, pizza stone,as well as the joetisserie). It performs great. the vision customer service is top notch as well

When did BGE's become the cheaper options? Used to be BGE was the most expensive and everyone else were cheaper. Now I can get a BGE for $899 and the kamado joe XL is $1600?

Can't compare a KJ XL to a large BGE. Seems to me that Kamado Joe has had all of the innovation and update lately between the two. I think maybe BGE finally got a new smoke cap.

I have this exact grill, except it's blue and was sold under the Pitboss brand, but 100% exactly the same. I've been very happy with it, going on 4 years of use now. I was concerned about how long it would last being significantly cheaper than the name brand ceramics but so far the only thing I've replaced is the deflector plate because I dropped it and cracked it. I've done it all on it, grilled, smoked, seared steaks, cooked pizzas, etc etc. Zero complaints from me.

We have an XL & MiniMax BGEs and they're amazing. Also have a 36" Blackstone.
All things considered, were I to buy my first one today, knowing everything we know re: accessories, etc, we'd probably get the Big Joe. That new gasket assembly and gas-assisted hinge is LEGIT.

If that is a picture of a Classic, (any Classic version), $599 is hard to believe. $599 would be a tremendous bargain. If you are correct, you should go buy that thing tonight. Don’t eat supper. Don’t stop for red lights. Go get it tonight.
ETA: Never mind. I see now it is a knockoff. I thought it might be a Kamado Joe.

Atlanta Grilling Company is the best in town, IMO.
