Soil temps are perfect right now and falling. No rain in forecast to water it in. I can't see laying a tiny amount, moving sprinklers, and repeating. If I wait for rain and soil temps are below 70 is it still ok to put down? Or must it be laid now?

Would do it now especially with a "cold" front coming through next week. The nights are getting cool and colling soil down. I put mine down about a week ago right before it was supposed to rain and of course it didnt so then I spent ohours watering it in which sucked but is what it is. Can't wait forever for the rain or it will be too late. Better too early than too late.

I’m going to put down this weekend or early next week.

What are you putting down?

I have some Andersons Barricade (prodiamine), can’t decide if I need to put anything else down with it or after. Think I have some Atrazine on hand.

You can apply it anytime you want just recognize it won’t kill weeds whose seeds have already germinated if you delay. Some cool season weed seeds germinate at soil temps of 70 F, like Poa (annual bluegrass), others at cooler temperatures later in the year.

Not sure I’m following you. Apply the pre-emergent to the entire lawn at one time. Then move the sprinkler around - pain sure, compared to rain watering it in but mother nature often doesn’t cooperate with our preferred schedule. How big of a yard you have that you can’t water it in with a sprinkler or 2 in a single day?

I'm putting down liquid Simazine this weekend. Does a liquid form need to be watered in also?

Yes - all pre-emergent herbicides need to be water into the soil where the weed seeds germinate. The amount of time you have to water it in after application is going to be stated on the herbicide label but you will have no efficacy of the herbicide until watered in.

Site One Landscape Supply has it in stock according to my app but you’d have to get it tomorrow (Friday) - not open on weekends.

I'm in east central MS and here's my schedule. Prodiamine in late January. No later than second week of Feb each year. I'll mix in a 3 way post emergent with the pre emergent. Dithiopyr in mid May each year. Prodiamine again in late August to second week in Sept. have to catch a rain, though. To get a half inch of water on it after application.

I put mine down this morning and there is no way I’m hauling the hose and sprinkler around 1-1/2 acres. If it gets rain good, if not I will battle the weeds next spring.

I’ll be pudding Prodiamine down this week.

Side question: Is it too late for a last minute nitrogen app?

Yes, I would advise against it. The potential negatives far outweigh any benefits.
