It's this Camellia bush dead? **Update... It's not**

It got down to -14 here the other day, didn't get above 32 for 6 days. I have 4 of these and they all look the same. They're 18 years old and this one is nearly 10' tall.
So question is, are they dying? Or did the leaves just get freezer burn? No leaves fallen off yet and they don't feel dead, if that makes sense.

Wait until spring. Trim back branches until you see green. If you don’t see green it’s dead.

Hard to say. Scratch a small branch with your thumbnail to take off the bark and if there is green under there, its worth waiting it out. We are in the same boat in Dallas and I'm telling people to just wait. You may eventually lose a lot of the leaves and branches but the roots may have survived. The question is do you want to wait a couple of years for it to re-grow.

I am glad our house sold last week, this week EVERYTHING looks dead. I walked in the back yard today and was everything was melted... the plants that is.

Too soon to tell. Give it a month at least.

Give it some time, Camelias are very hardy.

Almost certainly the plant is not dead. There is also probably much less die-back in the branches than its current appearance would suggest. It can take several months for the true extent of damage to become apparent. Historical advice is to do nothing for the time being and reassess in a few months and to resist the urge to prune for now
