Yes and that is ugly. Get ready to open a lot of walls and floors to chase the damage and see where it stops.

Do you not see any active termites there? They really should be obvious. If not there, keep tearing out until you hit good wood as it may be from an old infestation that was taken care of as far as killing them. Obviously no repairs were made.....

I actually took a class on identifying insect pests from Penn U.

It looks like someone realized there was an infestation and simply treated to get rid of the termites. Probably swarmed and found them. Check above to make sure they aren’t making their way overhead. Grab some of the worst wood and break it apart. If they are alive the die when exposed. Little beggars are still below the house somewhere.

Ants have head, body, thorax. Termite, head neck body. No last segment.
