I have one of these timers that was acting erratically and now haw stopped working. The gears in the back are turning. The dial is clicked in and engaged, but the clock dial isn’t turning. These things are supposed to be bomb proof. Anyone ever dealt with one of these that’s misbehaving?

I replaced mine about 2 years ago and now the replacement is starting to act up just as you’ve described

Haha. Well I have a new one waiting at home to install, but I was going to try to troubleshoot the existing one as I replace it.

Intermatic Timer Troubleshooting

I had replaced one that went bad on me a few years ago, but next time it happens I'm likely going to take it out and WD-40 it down and re-apply white grease. If you click the link above and search for "grease" it should take you to a picture that shows what needs greasing.

That site is actually a huge help. I may be able to find the problem just by taking the dial off and seeing why the dial isn’t being driven by the clock gears.

I had the exact same problem. Couldn’t figure it out so I just put a new one in.

Yeah. Everything spins on mine except the dial. Still puzzled.

Do you happen to have an extra by the water heater? When we bought our house the one on the pool wasn't working and I looked in the attic and there was one next to each water heater not being used, so I just pulled the guts out of one of those and put it on the pool. Been working fine for 7 years.
