Ice Maker for Home Use
Looking to buy an ice maker for my home. Would like to buy one that makes ice like they have at Raising Cane's.

Anyone familiar with buying an extra ice maker for the house?

Added a Uline under cabinet when we remodeled. It’s not the same shape ice you want and it’s not my favorite, it’s a hollow cube. I got it because I was told it was a more reliable brand. It was right at 2k and I like it a lot. Never really used ice a lot with regular drinks but now it’s so easy to get I’ve gotten used to it and almost hate a drink without it now.

re: Ice Maker for Home Use
I have an ice o matic that does the sonic ice or raising canes ice - use it every single day / love it - the drain pump and drain pump sensor seem to have issues over time with getting clogged and running non stop. I’ve replaced drain pump sensor twice in 3 yrs, but the 1st time was under warranty / part was like $100, so 2nd time was no big deal/ my advice is do GRAVITY DRAIN vs drain pump and then I think you’d have zero issues. Gotta be able to gravity drain tho.....

Have a kitchenaid one, never had a problem with it other than it’s loud as the absolute frick when it fills with water, which it does seemingly every 20 minutes.

Hoshizaki is a good brand. We had a problem with the drain at first, but the warranty covered it. No problems since.

GE Profile/CAFE and Scotsman make nugget ice makers but you're going to have pay +$3000 for either one

My parents have a Scotsman and I have a Hoshizaki. Both undercounter nugget ice (Sonic Ice) machines. No problems with either one in 4+ years.

Kitchenaid/Whirlpool square ice cubes is $2K
Sonic ice from anyone else is North of $3K

All will fail and have trouble over time, even if you descale them regularly.
First one was a GE Profile that lasted 10 years, which I replaced parts on 4-5 times.
New one is the Kitchenaid, same ice. We'll see how long it lasts. New Orleans hard water is murder on these ice machines, commercial grade or otherwise.

I’ve had mine for 11 years without any problem

Ice Makers Direct

Bought a pebble ice maker from this site a few years back. Great prices, I installed it myself. Clean it regularly, and no problems so far.

Pebble or Nugget ice makers are NOT cheap.

My Whirlpool had a full sensor go bad. Everything else had been great for 3.5 years.
