We bought a home the 25th of August. I’m borrowing my friends camper that we have parked in the driveway while I remodel our house. (I know, buy a house with these crazy rates?) But we got it way under market and it’s basically what we’ve always wanted.
I was expecting a 3 week turnaround and here we are on week 5. Pretty sure we’ll be able to move in next weekend but I’m tired of setting dates and not hitting them..
I’m tired. Work all day and work even harder when I get off and bust arse on weekends.
I know I can see the finish line, but I know the work ahead to get there.
I’d love nothing more than to come home and just sit on the couch and not move until bed lol
I’ll be glad I did it one day but I’m struggling at the moment
Did I mention I have 2 young kids? Makes camper living rough

If you've got flooring and A/C just go in at night. Remodeling sucks. I was dumb and did it while my wife was pregnant. Had help with family. Tried to knock out as much as possible on every available weekend. Some things got pushed to the side. It was very inconvenient for a couple months.
I'm not sure the extent of your remodel job, but if you can take time off to at least knock out the essentials and make your house livable, do that.

One positive of your struggles: your kids are learning discipline and perseverance by watching you handle business.

I started a new home build in March of 2021. Estimate was 12 months to close
I still have at least 2 months to go before we close. minimum
Right now, my mattress and box is sitting on the floor because we sold our bedroom suite.
19 months in so far. A 2500 sq foot, single floor concrete block house

If this is your first time owning a home you will soon learn this!

Not trying to sound tough but man up, put your head down, push through, and it’ll be over soon enough.
Once you’re done, you’ll be able to come home and sit on the couch. Except it’ll be so much more rewarding knowing what you had to go through and you did it.
As a bonus, the wife will probably notice your hard work too. So let me be the first to congratulate you on your third child!

As someone currently going through a divorce with young kids, quit being a pu$$y. There are people out here including myself dealing with real problems. Be thankful for what you have and make the most of it.

I get it. We are remodeling too, but it's a condo. We were living out of state so no big deal that work can only take place M-F 8-5. Gets done when it gets done. Then my dad died while I was in town meeting my contractor. I immediately became my mom's caregiver. My husband started working remotely from a different location to be with me because I am an only child and it's a lot to deal with. So we're living at my mom's and now she's in the hospital.
I would say my husband would switch places with you, but he hates kids.

Are you building the damn house yourself with a pickup truck and a box of hand tools?

If you started in March 2021, this does not compute.
