An Adirondack to be precise. It’s pine. It’ll be primed and painted. I’ll do another one later out of cypress and probably just poly that one. It doesn’t show in the pictures, but I filled in the screw holes.
That’s the shop class at my school

Nice job. I've built a lot of them, also double seated with the little table between them, porch swings, planters, etc. over the years.
I find treated wood will last as long, if not longer than the cypress you can get today, so take that into consideration when building more of them. Just be sure to let the treated wood dry out a good bit before using it because of shrinkage, twisting and warpage common to that type lumber.
My porch swing is made out of cypress and is now almost 20 years old but is showing it age. It is out of the weather unless we get a driving rain.
I originally coated it with poly and that wore off enough over time that I just sanded it smooth and left it natural. The wood ages well.

That aint n middle of the mall workshop. You are either in prison or trade school.

Hardly. I have my own home woodworking shop and my "trade school" was skills acquired over the years doing carpentry, finishing work, cabinetmaking and other forms of woodworking.
Just because you can't see past those two options doesn't make it so.

It's the shop class at the high school where I teach.

That looks like my Westdale Junior High School Industrial Arts classroom circa 1970. All I ever made back then was pine paddles on the bandsaw then use a drill press with a 1 1/4” wood boring bit to make it wind resistant so E.A. Ackoury could paddle my arse with it. I also got to drill a hole in the end for a leather strap and occasionally he would let me paint or stain them.
I made 7.
My wife’s grandfather made 2 Adirondack chairs for us as a wedding gift 30 years ago and we still have them and use them. They’ve been repaired and painted several times-repairs I learned in that 7th and 8th grade Industrial Arts class.
Looks like you hammered your thumbnail-a talent I’ve perfected over the years as well. I credit that not to that class but the beer I learned to drink about that same time.

I miss working in a high school and having access to the shop.

I’ve made 8 of those. Most comfortable Adirondack chair I’ve sat in and good looking too. Good choice.

That high school has some quality machines. Not judging at all. Buy quality and it'll last forever

Well, at least you weren't asked what trade school or prison you are in.
This site seems to have its share of idiots who love to try to be cute-----and usually fail.

quote:. You are correct. I can’t tell you how much Harbor Freight crap I’ve gone through. I’ve got an old Sears Craftsman table saw from the 90’s. It’s starting to show it’s age though.

The shop teacher is really active. He’s an old dude. The wood planer is from the late forties.
It’s motivated me to redo my garage. It was full of junk and half assed shelves and benches. Now I’m emptying it and redoing the whole thing this weekend.
