re: I bought a Speed Queen Washer and Dryer. Must be a good product to include 7yr warranty.

after going through four washing machines since i got married in 2011, i finally pulled the trigger on a SQ last year. got the base model, with the fewest bells and whistles - absolutely love it. going to get the base model dryer too, when ours (inevitably) kicks the bucket.

My old Kenmore finally gave way after almost 20 years of great service (and it was probably 10 years old when I bought it secondhand).
I figured let's get another Kenmore (just serviced like above) that was built in 2004 or so, and it cost less than $350 delivered, so it's something to consider.
When I bought my house in 2013, the previous owners left the washer and dryer. They were old Kenmore units. So far all I have had to change was a timer on the washer and a heating element on the dryer. Both still going strong.

and a heating element on the dryer.
the last dryer we had that broke, i'm 90% sure it was the heating element. to get to the heating element to replace it, you basically had to disassemble the entire dryer. it was in the very back, bottom and there was no access panel. that is absolutely by design and it is infuriating.

. Though the direct drive whirlpool/ kenmore from 1982 to 2009 is a better machine if you have one of those keep it running.

Thanks to your previous comments on these models of washer, I have a 2004 Whirlpool and many extra parts while I can still find genuine FSP parts. Including a spare used transmission.
I can take comfort in knowing I'll have a reliable washing machine for years to come. Now if most everything else in my person life wasn't currently a shitshow, I'd be all set.

Speed Queen is by far head and shoulders above all other brands.
