How to kill Crepe Myrtle Roots without exposed stump

So last Spring I cut down a good bit of crepe myrtles which is now St. Augustine grass and have been dealing with tons of suckers popping up all over the yard. Typically I mow them and immediately after passing I brush them with Bonide. This spring there are even more suckers popping up and I am wondering if there is anything else I could do besides this or it just has to run its course for a couple years of doing this to finally starve and kill the root system?

I haven’t tried to kill one before but from what I hear, the first step in killing a crepe myrtle is to give up.

lol yeah I know they are tough. Didn't know if anyone has successfully done it? Also, I read online to get a 2,4-d product like this 2,4-D but everywhere I go it says it cannot be shipped to my location (Lafayette, LA). Is it banned in Louisiana or something or in specific areas?

I successfully killed mine using a 33% mix of water, molasses, and glyphosate concentrate. I read the molasses tip on here years ago. The key is you have to get the mixture painted on the stump/roots within minutes of making the cut. The cells close up almost immediately and it won't take if you wait.

Correct. But as I mentioned I had the stumps grinded as deep as possible and it is now in the middle of my lawn so there is no stump or root visible.

Find a convenient place to dig and expose a root, where the shooters are. There's clearly some roots left. Expose, cut, and paint the mixture on.

I had one crepe myrtle that was rather young that i ripped out with my truck. I had some shoots come back for maybe 2 years and then they stopped.
i had another one stump grinded. It's been giving me shoots for 3 years now, each year being less than before. I haven't seen any yet this year.
All i've done is cut them when i cut the grass.

I cut mine down to the ground had a friend with bigger 4x4 than mine and helped me pull them up the root ball etc. within a few weeks little sprigs were coming up through the sod I laid down. As soon as it appropriate it just cut the grass including the new crepe growth.
Basically I decided that I couldn’t get rid of it.

Do a 3:1 ratio of diesel:triclopyr and paint the exposed stump (thin slice it if you can) and side bark.

Same experience for me. I just mowed on my regular schedule and they just stopped coming up after a while.
