Can someone identify what is going on with my grass? I have this same issue in a few spots. It just never really grew back after winter.

May have to throw down some seed. If you do, make sure to pick up that dead area so the seed can have soil contact and skip the pre emergent if you're seeding.

Did you have any excessive moisture? What fert did you use and how heavy did you put it down? Weed control and when? Did you have spots form in the fall and did you fert in late fall?

Check for spittlebugs in the areas with good grass. Basically dig past the thatch with your fingers kind of like a gorilla picking bugs off each other and look for something that looks like spit. Inside that spit is a larva spittlebug eating your grass. Especially if you see some blades with a distinct purple streak.

A couple of the spots are in low areas and the others are in what I don’t consider low areas but maybe I’m missing something.
Last September I did dimension and then about a week later(25th) I applied Celsius. Also did a Lesco 5-10-31 at the end of September. I’m not sure what was done before, I had Spring Green.
Did another app of Celsius October 11.
January 21 put down Stonewall.
February 24 Cleggs cocktail.
March 13 Pendimetgin
April 13 lesco 24-2-11
I’m missing an app of Cleggs but it was mostly a spot treatment and I don’t even think I hit this area.
I don’t really remember these spots being there in the fall but they were definitely already there for green up. I may just not be remembering correctly from fall.

That’s a tough call. I’d do this: use a plastic leaf rake and rake out the dead runners. Look for black lesions (faded gray on old dead runners). Post if you find it. Put down peat moss. It has a ph level of 4.4. Centipede will love that acidity. Don’t apply anything for 2-3 weeks to see what happens.

My yard looks like that in a few places.Mine looks compacted,I need to rent a core aerator and pass over it.

Check to see if your soil is compacted in that area. I have a few spots in my yard that look similar, the grass just can’t grow. The ground in those spots is very hard, lots of clay in mine. I bought a manual core aerator on amazon to try and get the grass to grow better in those spots.

Here is the leading edge of the damage. You can see where it starts turning brown.
Here are some of the runners I raked up. I didn’t notice any black lesions.

What rate did you put the 24-2-11 down at?

I used 50 pounds for my 14,000 sq ft.
I think it said it was good for 12,000.
It could be some run off from some that landed in my flower bed though. It looks like it’s running from the bed.

So a little less than a pound of N per thousand. I don't think that is the cause of it. If it was a wet winter then it might have been some general root rot combined with brown patch. I'd do the peat moss and give it some time.

Peat moss helped my neighbors yard tremendously

I got it down. Hopefully all this rain doesn’t wash it away.
