Having 3.5" of open cell foam insulation sprayed under my garage roof

Right now, in the middle of the afternoon, my attic gets to 150° and my garage 130°.
How much of an improvement can I expect to see with this? They claim this is R-12 to R-13 level.
I intentionally elected to go with 3.5" instead of the recommended 5.5" to save on cost and this is just trying to break the heat for the garage. The roof over the living quarters has 7.5-8" already sprayed.

why arent you doing the whole roof?
the cost to be on site is what you are paying for, doing the whole roof wont be much more money than them just doing the garage part
call them back and ask them the price difference to do the entire roof, you will be glad you did

I did notice a difference with the spray foam in the ceiling of my shop.
It had crappy bubble wrap that blew down from the hurricane. Didn't do the walls but there was a "seat-of-the-pants difference" with the ceiling sprayed, especially with temps in the 80's and low 90's. Given the temps during the last 2 days it doesn't make a difference what's on the ceiling.

You missed the last part. The entire home is already spray foamed but there is zero insulation over the garage.

ok, well you know the drill, the guy told me, once im on site, thats what you are really paying for, the materials arent much as far as the total price.
he said its a very small difference to spray everything, vs just doing a little bit, so make sure you do enough to make it worth it.
if its just that small amount i bet doing 6" vs 3.5" is less than $100 difference in price so do the 6" to match the rest of the house

It's a 33x22 hip roof and the difference between 3.5" and 5.5" was 1k.
I'm also hanging 6" gutters on the entire house in a week, so I decided to keep the 1k to help with that.
I get your point, but in the end it's just the garage and I'm trying to cut some expenses.
