I’d be interested to see your results with transcontinental. Another variety I’m not familiar with but if you have success in less than 8 hours of sunlight it would certainly get my attention.

I overseeded 200lbs of blackjack on a 1 acre property that had huge bare spots. 3 months later the lawn was full. Zero aeration, tilling, topdressing, etc. Seed on ground, water, sun.

I guess we will see then. I'll be looking to close in my ditches with culverts either later this year or next spring.

Speaking of this issue, do Centipede seeds bring those patches back and which brand of Centipede seed do you folks like?

Centipede sucks, I'll never willingly re-sod with that shite ever again. Unless you have zero trees around, it won't grow.

Just to throw out another option, if you love to mow grass. Overseed the with rye in fall. My shade backyard of centipede looks like Augusta National from oct on and still looks great today sure it’ll die out at some point but it’ll be 90 plus and I won’t be in the backyard as much then anyway. Rye grass is amazing. All I’ve done is one fert app in February and keep it mowed. But be ready to mow and weed eat year round.

After seeing the comments and talking to a few local pros, going to try seeding with Zenith Zoysia due to some partial shade in certain areas. Don't really care about two different grasses in the yard, just tired of looking at dirt!

I have GEO Zoysia in the front and Emerald in the back and wouldn't have anything else. Both are pretty much the same and the GEO replaced the Emerald. It get's super thick and I water it about every three days and that's it. I also fertilize it about 4 times a year via the Scotts program. I will say though that it can be hard to mow because it gets super thick, but that's what I like about it. And, does much better than other kinds in the shade.
