I put in starter plants that I bought from Jefferson Feed this weekend.

4 Broccoli
4 Georgia Collards
4 Green Cabbage
4 Red Cabbage
8 Brussel Sprouts
8 Cauliflower

And I will follow up with some of the above in a few weeks to space out the harvest.

I direct sowed Sugar Snaps and I'm waiting on a seed delivery of leaf lettuces, onion sets, kale, beets, 2 types of Swiss Chard and spinach.

Earlier last month I added couple cu. yds. of topsoil and got the ground tilled to incorporate it into the existing soil. That was a task since my garden is clay heavy and the ground was very dry from lack of rain. I had to resort to running a sprinkler to get some water penetration where it was very compacted between my okra rows.

Still hot as hell in the N.O. area.

right on

I ordered beets, cabbage, turnips, carrots, greens, bok choy and radicchio seeds from baker last night. Winter gardens are so much more enjoyable

Amen to that. Less weeds, less pests, less need to water and much cooler to work in the garden.

My fall/winter garden is my favorite.

How much space does green cabbage need?

Imagine what it’s like just 10 hours north. 82dg here, but my first freeze should be before 10/20. No more planting here.

I plant them 24 inches apart and by the time they are making heads, the plants are easily touching each other. Cabbages and cauliflower are "one and done" plants and once the head is harvested I pull the plant up and plant new. I find red cabbages can be planted a bit closer (18 inches) since those heads aren't as large as the green heading varieties I plant.

Broccoli, on the other hand makes the largest head that is harvested first, then it will continue to make what are called "side shoots" of smaller, individual broccoli heads that can be harvested for weeks to months after the first head is removed.
