Getting a mower from Greenville SC to BR
Posted by FeeshTacos on 7/7/22 at 9:09 pm00
Unique situation here- a buddy of mine works at the parent company of a well known tool brand and can get me their electric ZTR mower for $1900 ($4500 retail) using his employee discount. The trouble is, he’s located in Greenville SC and I’m in BR. They cannot ship or deliver it to me from there, it must be picked up in South Carolina.
So what do y’all think is the best way for me to get this thing to my house while still being worth all the trouble? That is, for less than the $2600 discount I would be getting.
I am thinking I could fly there, rent a trailer, and bring it to BR that way.
Or borrow a family member’s trailer and drive up there myself and get it myself. 10 hour drive both ways.
Or hire a moving company to do it for me.
Thoughts?

If you fly there and rent a trailer what will pull the trailer? Maybe drive there and have a U-Haul trailer reserved there.

Southeastern freight.
If it’s on a pallet or fits on a pallet. You’ll just need a local delivery service to get it to their dock in Greenville. and you can pick it up in Port Allen. That’s how I got my big reel mower from the Dallas area to BR.
You can call them for a quote & they might even recommend a local delivery guy.

Check out some hot shot companies. If the load is not time sensitive you may be able to catch some driver dead heading back to south Caroline and get a deal.

Quoted by uShip for $670.
Comparing that to driving myself both ways, gas would run around $350 (assuming 20 mpg and $5 a gallon), leaving a difference of $320. 20+ hours of driving to save $320, not really worth it to me personally.
Looks like this might be the way to go.
