When I got my generac it had been sitting up with gas in it for about the same amount of time as yours. An old man had gotten it for Hurricane Gustav as a back up and had only run it ~10 hours. I had to replace the fuel lines, filter, spark plug, on/off switch, and do an oil change. I took the carb off and sprayed out all the lil holes and jets that I could get to without breaking it apart. It fired right up after that. I run it every 6 months or so, still fires right up.

In addition to all the fuel and fuel line suggestions, check for dirt dobber and rodents nests and remove.

Good way to send trash into the carburetor. Drain all the fuel from the tank & carburetor float bowl and inspect both for rust and debris. Want everything to be clean or it's going to be a frustrating time getting a generator to run well.
