This creature was in my carrot tops yesterday. I am not sure what it is and whether it’s a pest or not.
It looks like it would catch speckled trout if it was on a hook.
Any ideas?

whatever it is it looks like a carnivore not a herbivore

Thanks.
Looks like I shouldn’t set my flame thrower on it.

If this is an assassin bug, be careful. They are not toxic, but they will bite the shite out of you.

They are not that harmful to humans but can give a painful bite, i.e. poke with their “beak.” But at least its bite won't decapitate you, unlike its smaller prey. Ironically, assassin bugs are largely beneficial to humans because they eat other bugs.
